Richard LeRoy (Dick) Tatum, 82, Carthage, died Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his home. He was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Alba, of Carl Lee (Pete) Tatum Sr., and Rachel Allene Cooper.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1961 when then joined the reserves for another year. He went to work for Schreiber in 1967 and retired as an international field service engineer in 2004. He spent time outdoors, and hobbies included fishing and golfing.

Survivors are his sister, Barbara Edens; his children, Doug Tatum, Greg Tatum, Barbara Haslip (Butch), Scott Fullerton (Kimberly), Brian Tatum, Amanda Willis (Brad); 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl Lee Tatum Jr., William Tatum, Robert Tatum and Kenneth Tatum; one grandson, Ricky Tatum; and two great-grandsons, Clay Hensley and Judah Bass.

The family will hold a private memorial graveside service Thursday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at Carthage Park Cemetery, then welcome his friends to join in celebrating his life from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. in his home at 9936 Glen Hollow Lane, Carthage. It is a come-and-go celebration.
