Tigers drop back-to-back games against Webb City, Republic

The Carthage Tiger baseball team ran into two tough matchups this week, dropping games against Webb City 11-1 and Republic 12-1.

On Tuesday, Landon Bland (2-1, 1.91 ERA) was on the hill for Carthage. The righty, who has been stellar for the Tigers so far this season, ran into command trouble allowing five hits and seven runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking five.

Eider Lyckman pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out two and walking none.

Landon West drove in the only run for Carthage on a triple in the fifth inning that scored Cooper Lilienkamp.

West, Zach Hoenshell, Langston Morgan, Ty Perry and Lilienkamp each collected one hit for Carthage.

On Wednesday, Nolan Brown (2-3, 3.15 ERA) started for Carthage and went four and one-third innings, surrendering seven runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out six and walking three.

Carson Kinder pitched in relief for Carthage allowing five runs on two hits while walking four and striking out four in one and two-thirds innings. Blayne Lilienkamp pitched one inning in relief striking out two.

Hoenshell led Carthage with one RBI. Brady Carlton, Bradyn Tate, Morgan, C. Lilienkamp, B. Lilienkamp and West each collected one hit for the Tigers.

The Tigers (11-10) travel to Logan-Rogersville Saturday for two games. Game one starts at 9 a.m. followed by game two at 11:30 a.m.
