Linda Marie Liston, 87, Carthage, Missouri, a beacon of love and passion, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025, at her home. She was born on January 23, 1938, in Torrance, California, the daughter of the late Lionel Paul Liston and Evelyn Marie (Bernhard) Liston. As a great listener, Linda was always willing to share her wisdom which touched the lives of all who knew her.

A graduate of Corona High School in 1955, Linda’s zest for life was matched by her entrepreneurial spirit. She carved out a successful career as a self-employed realtor in Monett, Missouri, where her masterful sales skills were well-known and admired. Linda’s ability to connect with people and her genuine interest in their stories made her not just an exceptional realtor but a cherished friend to many.

Linda’s life was a tapestry of love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her loving children, Ronald “Corky” Jenkins, Carl Junction, Missouri, Kelli (Stevens) Nugent (husband Shawn), Carthage, and Scott Stevens, Carl Junction; her sister, Cheryl Briggs, Aurora, Missouri; her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends who were like family to her. She was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Liston; and her very beloved dog and companion, Willow.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Carthage, Linda’s new-found faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She always believed in Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ but knew there was more she needed to learn. Through her own reading and asking questions and praying for knowledge (James 1:5-6), Linda knew she needed to be baptized. She entered the waters of baptism at the age of 86. She continued to learn and grow in the Gospel until her death. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Linda’s passion for genealogy was more than a hobby; it was a journey into the past that she navigated with enthusiasm and reverence. Her love for uncovering her family’s history paralleled her love for gardening, where she found peace and joy in the simple act of nurturing growth. Linda’s curiosity and love for learning were also evident in her fondness for travel, reading and her enjoyment of puzzles, which she approached with patience and determination.

Per Linda’s wishes, there was cremation. Private family services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
