CHS falls to Kickapoo Tuesday at home

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage Varsity Tigers fell to Kickapoo 5-0 on Tuesday at McCune Brooks Regional Hospital Trust Baseball Stadium.

Kickapoo pitcher Colin Muldoon held the Tigers to no runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking two.

“He was really good tonight,” CHS head coach Kevin Burgi said. “He kept our hitters off balance … we have competed well in the box all year, so it’s hard not to give a lot of credit to him.”

Blayne Lilienkamp took the loss for Carthage. The right-hander went four innings, giving up three runs (all earned) on two hits, striking out two and walking eight.

Cooper Jackson pitched in relief for Carthage, allowing two unearned runs on four hits. He struck out two and didn’t issue a walk.

“Cooper and Blayne both did a good job,” said Burgi. “The encouraging things we are seeing is that we are playing defense much better than where we were two weeks ago.”

Brady Carlton, Landon West, Jordan Brunnert and Tate Nichols each collected one hit for the Tigers.

“We have done a great job responding to adversity throughout the year, so it is disappointing that we didn’t do a great job of that against Kickapoo,” added Burgi “We will be better on Thursday.”

Carthage (7-3) will travel to Ozark for their next game on Thursday.
