George Harrison Cole IV, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Carthage, Missouri, at the age of 78. Born on November 25, 1946, in Hudson City, New York, the son of the late George Harrison and Mary (Wells) Cole III

His early years were filled with the love and guidance of his mom, Mary (Wells) Curry, as well as the steadfast support of his stepfather, Paul Curry, who has also preceded him in death. George dedicated 42 years of service as a maintenance man at Schreiber Cheese. His colleagues knew him as a reliable and resourceful individual, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.

Outside of work, George was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. He could often be found casting a line in the serene waters of his favorite fishing spots, a pastime that brought him immense happiness throughout his life. Golfing and riding horses were among his other interests.

George’s life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family. He is survived by his loving wife, Johnna (Maxwell) Cole, who was his partner in all things and his greatest support. His daughters, Cindy Kelly (John) and Cristy Short (Steve), will remember him as a guiding light and a source of unwavering love. His stepson, Curt Campbell, shared many cherished moments with George, who embraced him as his own. His brother, Steve Curry (Janice), and sisters, Karen Beal and Michelle Hill, will miss his companionship and the shared memories of their childhood. His sister-in-law, Donna Dorge, will fondly recall his kindness and the joy he brought to family gatherings.

George’s legacy will live on through his granddaughter, Carly Short, and step-grandson, Quinn Campbell.

George’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but they take comfort in the knowledge that his life was one well-lived, filled with the pursuits he loved and surrounded by the people who meant the world to him.
