Lewis Franklin Busch, 69, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Thursday morning, June 29, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, following an extended hospital stay.
Lewis was born June 29, 1954, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of the late Mary Frances (Cortez) Busch and Lewis Oliver Busch. He was a 1972 graduate of Carthage High School, where he was a basketball standout. He pursued his basketball dreams at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri and Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas, until his basketball career was derailed by injuries. He worked in the warehouse for Schreiber Foods in Carthage. Lewis loved his family dearly and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Survivors include his daughters, Danielle Busch, Joplin, Missouri, and Tisha Baker, Las Vegas, Nevada; his grandchildren, Dacia Busch, Jeffrey Buckner, Ja’Ron Baker, and Dedan Busch; his sister, Mary Benita “Teena” Busch, Durham, North Carolina; and numerous extended family and friends.
Memorial graveside services will be held 12 pm, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Carthage. The family will receive friends before the service from 10 am – 11:45 am at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
