James “Jim” Saferite

James “Jim” Saferite, 74, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Jim was born in Gas, Kansas, on January 17, 1948, to Calvin “Gabby” Saferite, and Georgia “Sproul” Saferite. He was an auto enthusiast, loved to laugh, and never met a stranger. James loved to spend time with family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand. James LOVED to tell stories and was an avid Chiefs fan. He worked for O’Reilly’s for the past 34 years or more.

Jim was united in marriage to Shirley Lee on June 6, 1969 in Carthage, Missouri; she survives.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Saferite; one daughter, Christina Saferite-Comer (Chris) of Carthage; two granddaughters Bailey and Ashley Comer; one brother, Frank Saferite (Betty) of Carthage; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Georgia Saferite; two sisters, Debby Saferite and April Thorton; and one nephew, Rick Saferite.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Community Room in Carthage, Missouri.
