Becky Steele, 92, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. She was born on January 23, 1930, to the late Delbert and Veda Brown in Pharr, TX. Becky’s family moved to Carthage, MO while she was in grade school. She graduated from Carthage High School and married John Steele on February 9, 1947. Becky and John shared a loving marriage for 72 years, until his death in 2019.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Johnna Horton of Broken Arrow, OK; and two sisters, Nellie Griffin of Memphis, TN and Georgie Carter of Jasper, MO.
Becky is survived by a daughter, Cindy Rogers (Harry) of Carthage, MO; six grandchildren, Sam Rogers (Allison) and Chris Rogers (Tracy), both of Carthage, MO, Brian Fieker (Amber), Kristen Mansfield (Adam), Jenny Petty (Jared), and Brad Fieker of Broken Arrow, OK; fifteen great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ben, Abby and Emme Rogers, all of Carthage, MO, Ashlyn, Luke, Jake, Harlow and Oliver Fieker, Alexia Weldon, Paxton Mansfield, Destiny and Rylee Massey and Wyatt and Owen Petty, all of Broken Arrow, OK; two sisters, Lottie Mathews of Carthage, MO and Frankie McFadden of Houston, TX.
Beck worked for forty years at Big Smith. She was happiest spending time with her family, working in her yard and enjoying her neighbors. A special thanks to Beverly Rose, for her friendship and caring ways, and neighbors, Ronnie and Regina Wells and Brad, Zu and Dana Oxford for giving of their time to make her life more enjoyable.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2022, at Park Cemetery in Carthage, MO. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
