Emma Pound, Carthage Native receives Masters of Arts in Architecture

Emma Pound, Carthage, Missouri native, is a recent graduate of the University of Kansas, School of Architecture, Design and Planning.

She received her Master of Arts in Architecture with an Historic Preservation certificate on May 16, 2021.  Her master’ thesis was titled “Working with Children in the Built environment: A translational design guide.”

Pound received her Bachelor of Arts in December 2019. Because her May graduation was postponed due to COVID she will participate in the University of Kansas commencement ceremonies for the class of 2020 on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

As a part of her architectural curriculum, Pound studied abroad in her Spring 2019 semester in Florence, Italy with the Florence University of the Arts.  She then began her master’s studies in Copenhagen, Denmark during the summer of 2019 studying interior architecture and design with the Danish International Studies.

While at KU, Pound was active in her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta.  She graduated with honors.

In the spring of 2020, Pound began an internship with Growing Days in Prairie Village, Kansas, a design firm and store owned by Tamara Day star of the show Bargain Mansions on HGTV.  In August of 2020 she began working for Growing Days on a part-time basis and began working full time as a Designer once she completed her master’s.

Emma is the daughter of Mike and Lee Pound, of Carthage.
