CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage R-9 School Foundation is pleased to announce the Flanigan Speech Contest will be held Thursday, March 30, 203, throughout the day at the Carthage High School.

Each year, current CHS students are eligible to participate in one of three categories for the annual event, with cash prizes for first, second and third place in each category. Those categories are:

Declamation – A speech much like an original oratory.  It is a persuasive speech, in your own words, about a topic of your choosing.  The orator will give the judge reasons regarding the importance of his or her topic, and the speech will not exceed 5 minutes in length.
