Tigers sweep at Rolla Holiday Tourney; Pugh breaks CHS 3-point record, named MVP

The second-seeded Carthage Tiger basketball team rolled through the competition outscoring their opponents a whopping 180-108 to become champions of the 2021 Rolla Holiday Tournament held this week. The sweep puts the Tigers on a 7-game winning streak headed into 2022.

During the tournament run on Wednesday against Warrensburg, Carthage senior Joel Pugh became the Carthage High School career 3-point leader with 136 made.

Max Templeman, Justin Ray and Joel Pugh (Tournament MVP) were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Carthage 60, Lincoln Prep 37

Tuesday, Dec. 28

Max Templeman scored 19 points to lead Carthage, while Clay Kinder added 13 points. Joel Pugh and Justin Ray added 9 points apiece. Tyler Willis had 6 points and Britt Coy and Sylas Browning finished with 2 points apiece.

Carthage 62, Warrensburg 27

Wednesday, Dec. 29

Max Templeman led the Tigers with 15 points. Joel Pugh finished with 12 points and became Carthage’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers (136). Justin Ray added 11 points and Clay Kinder contributed 8 points.

Carthage 58, Rolla 44

Thursday, Dec. 30

Joel Pugh scored 17 points, while Max Templeman added 16. Britt Coy added 12 points and Clay Kinder had 7 points.
