Lady Tigers drop pair of games to visiting Strafford

Carthage 37, Strafford 64

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Lady Tigers struggled offensively en route to a 64-37 loss at home against the Strafford Indians Tuesday, Jan. 4. Carthage Senior Kianna Yates, who had averaged 20 points per game over the last four games, was held to 8 points.

Freshman Maggie Boyd was the lead scorer for the Tigers with 11 points including one 3-pointer. Zye Clark added 8 points while Sophie Shannon finished with 6 points. Lauren Choate followed with 3 points and Landry Cochran added 1 free throw to round out the scoring for the Tigers.

Junior Varsity

Carthage 30, Strafford 39

Lexa Youngblood’s 14 point effort wasn’t enough for the Lady Tiger JV team as they dropped their matchup to Strafford 39-30.

The Tigers kept it close going into the half down by 1 point, but Strafford outscored Carthage 20-13 in the final period to come away with the win.

Zye Clark followed Youngblood with 7 points and Jenna Wilson chipped in with 4 points. Jaidyn Brunnert and Becca Morris added 2 points apiece while Ashlyn Brust added a free throw.

The Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman teams are back in action Thursday in McDonald County.
