Tracy Ann Smart, 63, Carthage, Missouri, died at 1:10 pm on Monday, June 28, 2021. She was born on October 10, 1957, in Carthage, Missouri to Marvin Elvin Smart and Mary Beth (Stark) Smart. In 1961, her family moved to Visalia, California and ultimately to Ojai, California. Tracy graduated from Nordhoff High School in Ojai in 1975. She attended Ventura College and UC Santa Barbara, studying bookkeeping and office administration. She worked in that capacity in a variety of settings. In 1996, Tracy returned to Carthage. She most recently worked for Communication Solutions in Joplin.
Anyone who knew Tracy loved her sense of humor and quick wit. Her steadfast faith in the Lord and loyalty to family and friends were two of her greatest strengths. She was passionate about her cats, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carthage.
Tracy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Melissa Lyn Smart.
She is survived by a niece, Elizabeth Michelle Eger, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and cousins Elizabeth Barlet (Don Bauer) of Joplin, Missouri, David Barlet (Melissa) of Ohio, Susan Flowers (Jeff) of Joplin, Missouri, Jerry Stark of Arizona, Jim Stark of Georgia, and their families.
There will be a private family graveside service, followed by a visitation at Ulmer Funeral Home on July 13, 2021 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Carthage Humane Society.
