Stevens-Diggs 4 RBI fuel Tiger win over Lebanon

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage Tiger baseball team defeated Lebanon 9-4 Saturday at Carl Lewton Stadium.

The tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the first on a Taylor Stevens-Diggs two-out single to right field. Landon West and Blayne Lilienkamp both singled earlier in the inning.

Lebanon scored a run in the second to tie the game 2-2.

In the Tiger half of the second, Carthage plated five runs on three hits to go ahead 7-2. Lebanon committed two errors in the inning.

Carthage added to their lead in the third inning when Langston Morgan scored on an error and West later scored on a wild pitch.

Zane Browning turned a nifty double play to the end the game when he caught a sharp liner off the bat of a Lebanon player and flipped the ball to Bradyn Tate to record the out at second.

Nolan Brown (3-3, 2.68 ERA) earned the win for Carthage. He allowed four runs (one earned) while scattering nine hits over six and one-third innings. He struck out four and walked two. Brady Carlton pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Stevens-Diggs led the Tigers with 4 RBI going 1-for-4 at the plate. Morgan and Lilienkamp each had two hits. West stole two bases for Carthage.

The Tigers (16-13) travel to Marshfield Monday for a 4:30 p.m. game.
