Patricia Suzanne (Butler) Vento, 74, passed away Friday September 13, 2019 at Freeman Hospital Joplin, MO, at 3:28 am after a brief illness as the result from complications from pneumonia.
Patricia was born June 22 1945 in Arkansas City KS, to Charles Russell Butler and Doris (Meeks) Butler. Patricia graduated from Ark City High School Class of 1963. Patty would often help out at her parents, Circle O Donut Shop, in Ark City, and enjoyed playing the piano.
In 1964 Patricia went on to earn an Associate Degree in Wichita, KS, majoring in accounting and becoming proficient with early IBM machine processing.
From 1976 to 1982 Pat was a single mother to her two sons, marrying Bennie Vento Jr., who resides at the home. They moved from Kansas City to Carthage, MO, in 1983 where Pat was employed at Steadley Corp, The Carthage Cable Co., and eventually retiring from Dyno Transportation in 2009. Pat loved to watch birds enjoy her many bird feeders, had a soft heart for challenged children and had more than one sweet tooth! She was a Believer in Jesus Christ and loved her country and President.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents and son, MSG Thomas A. Wallsmith, KIA October 26, 2005, Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Survivors include her husband; son, Joel (Elizabeth) Wallsmith; grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan, Bailey, Evan and Brooks; a brother, Jim Butler and family; and three greatgrandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude on the professionalism and care of the Freeman ICU team.
Remembering her as an avid dog lover the grandchildren ask that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made in Patricia’s name to the Humane Society of Carthage, MO.
