James L. Mathews, 58, passed away at his home in Carthage Nov. 18, 2019. James was born in Corona, California Oct. 2, 1961 to James (Jim) Mathews and Billie “Burrow” DeVol. He was a resident of Carthage for the past 11 years moving from Riverside, California.
James was united in marriage to Delora Marie “Hudman” March 25, 1986 in Banning, California; she survives.
James is survived by one daughter, Jesica Mathews; four sons, Reuben Garcia, Raymond Garcia, James C. Mathews and Jeremy Mathews; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Crystal Mathews and three brothers, Donald Mathews, Lance DeVol and Matt Mathews.
James was preceded in death by one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 115 West Chestnut in Carthage.
