Born Sept. 17, 1928, Doris grew up on a farm near Jasper, MO graduating from Jasper High School having been elected class president. As a young lady during World War 2, she helped her parents maintain their farm as her 3 older brothers and her future husband were all serving in the Navy.

After the war she would marry her husband, Vic, and raise her family on their farm outside Carthage, MO. She enjoyed reading, history, playing the piano, traveling the world and supporting her kids and grandkids in all their various activities. She was a big sports fan and loved watching her Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals.

Later in life she would volunteer at the Jasper County (Missouri) Records Building helping organize files and assisting visitors with information on lost relatives. She also began writing articles for the local paper. Gems from the Archives were stories about area people and their sometimes incredible, but always interesting, life experiences.

After her husband passed away, she moved from Missouri to Colorado to be closer to her daughter and spent the last several years of her life making new friends and developing new relationships that would sustain her in her final years.

She leaves behind friends and family from Missouri, Colorado, Texas and beyond that will remember her kindness and love.
