Dolores “Dee” JoAnn Arner, 87, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at home. She was born on June 18, 1936, in Carthage, Missouri, to Elza John Welsh and Edna B. (Poindexter) Welsh. Dee was a lifetime resident of the Carthage area her whole life. She taught dance in her younger years and loved to dance the Cha-Cha. Dee was a beautician for several years and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage. She loved life more than anything and never met a stranger.
Dee was united in marriage to George B. Arner on August 18, 1965, in Miami, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death September 10, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Leek; daughter-in-law, Marinda Arner; two grandchildren, Eric (Becky) Leek and Shannah Arner; three great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Jace, and Colt Leek; and many nieces and nephews that she called her own.
Along with her husband and parents, Dee was preceded in death by one son, Randal “Scott” Arner on January 4, 2002; four brothers, George, Kenneth, E.J. “Jay”, and Herman Welsh; and one sister, Bonnie Mers.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., funeral at 2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Dee’s life following, on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage, Missouri. Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2023, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Neosho, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carthage Humane Society or Jasper County Sheriff’s Department in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
