Stone’s Throw Sally Awards honors volunteers, actors

The cast of the production of “Lend Me a Tenor” took home five awards and the cast of “One Christmas Night” took home for awards at the 2017-18 Sally Awards, held last month at Stone’s Throw Dinner Theatre.

The “Lend Me a Tenor” cast took home best director and best show, while “One Christmas Night” stars Elizabeth Turner and Judy Boyd took home best supporting actress and best actress respectively.

The Sally Awards ceremony is hosted by the Stone’s Throw Dinner Theatre and recognizes performances and volunteers from the past season. The theater, formed in 1928 originally as the Carthage Music Club, is a volunteer-run nonprofit that supports performing arts in Southwest Missouri.

The Volunteer of the Year award went to Ron and Kathy Swinehart; Sheri Browne was recognized for her work in the dining room; Leslie Brown was honored with a Sally for her work in the Kitchen, Linda Bailey received a Sally for her work in the box office and Kendra Goepfert got a Sally for her work as an Usher.

“Lend Me A Tenor” is a Ken Ludwig comedy that received nine Tony nominations and won best actor and best director in 1989.
