Carthage resident confirmed case of COVID-19

On Tuesday, April 9, 2020, the Jasper County Health Department confirmed the eleventh and twelfth case of COVID-19 in Jasper County.
The 11th diagnosed individual is a resident of Carthage in their thirties. The twelfth individual is a resident of Joplin and lives outside of city limits. According to the release from the health department “These are both separate work-related exposures.”
Identifying information will not be released to protect the patient’s right to privacy.
The Jasper County Health Department in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is working to determine any close contacts of this individual who were possibly exposed. If exposed, health officials will provide guidance to these individuals and monitor them closely for the development of symptoms.

The Jasper County Health Department will no longer provide press releases on individual COVID-19 case confirmation. Instead, a weekly summary will be provided on jaspercounty.org/health and on the Jasper County Health Department’s Facebook page.
