Lions play at Kansas in exhibition action

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Missouri Southern women’s soccer program fell 5-0 in exhibition action on the road tonight in Lawrence against Division I Kansas at Rock Chalk Park.

The Lions registered six shots in the game with three requiring saves by the Jayhawk goalkeepers.

Bailey Belcher led the team with three shots with two being on goal and Ashley Koepp picked up the other shot on goal. Jori Hays and Carina Calderon both registered a shot each to round out the attacking efforts. In goal for Southern Riley Laver had 10 saves and Laney Graham registered two.

The Jayhawks were held in check for most of the first half scoring in the tenth minute, before scoring four in the second half.

Next up for the Lions will be Newman March 7 in Joplin to begin the season. The match is scheduled to kick-off from Hal Boden Field at 2 PM.
