CHS Student Competes at New Balance Nationals Indoor Meet

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage High School student-athlete Henry Laytham recently competed in the Championship Mile at the New Balance Nationals Indoor meet on Sunday, March 15.

The national event mile featured 237 runners across 14 heats, bringing together some of the top high school distance athletes in the country. Laytham placed 15th in his heat and became the first Carthage Tiger to compete at this prestigious national meet.

Laytham described the experience as both exciting and meaningful.

“The feeling of competing at the national level is extraordinary,” Laytham said. “There is so much talent in this meet, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to compete. I am thankful for the support system of my family, coaches, and friends for pushing me in my sports career.”

Competing at this level highlights Laytham’s dedication and growth as a student-athlete and reflects the strength of Carthage’s track and field program.

Carthage R-9 School District celebrates Laytham’s accomplishment and looks forward to his continued success both on and off the track.
