Jasper County CASA Walk to Bridge the Gap June 4

June 4 @ 6:00 pm

Jasper County CASA announces the CASA WALK on Thursday, June 4. This is a free fun walk to raise awareness of the mission of CASA and the need for more advocates. The walk begins at 6 pm at Joplin High School (by the crosswalk closest to Sunny Jim Park). The route will be east on 20th Street, cross the Jake Reed Memorial Bridge, and terminates at the CASA House at 2421 East 20th Street.

The public is welcome to join Jasper County CASA Advocates and colleagues on the CASA WALK to encourage citizens from our community to become advocates for children in foster care and “bridge the gap” between those who have a CASA appointed to them and the more than 200 who don’t.

Jasper County CASA is a nonprofit organization providing trained volunteers from the community to advocate for children in foster care, who have been abused and neglected. Upon completion of training, CASA volunteers are sworn in by a judge and paired with a child or sibling group in foster care in Jasper County. A CASA is often the most consistent person in the child’s life and is the one who stands up and speaks up for their best interest.
