LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — The Carthage Lady Tiger basketball team hit a season high 13 three-pointers en route to a 60-53 win over host Lee’s Summit High School in their first round game of the Class 6 District 6 Tournament Thursday.

“It was raining threes in Lee’s Summit high school tonight and it was an exciting game to be a part of,” Carthage Head Coach Scott Moore said. “The threes will be the headline, but it was the collective defensive effort by the girls that willed us to victory. I’m so proud of the effort and intensity our girls showed on defense. We will need to play even better on Saturday.”

The win advances Carthage to round two against the number one seed Lee’s Summit West Saturday, March 8. The game starts at 1 p.m.

“Each one of our five senior starters hit big shots tonight, whether it was a three, a two or crucial free throws down the stretch,” added Moore. “That was an excellent display of maturity and senior leadership by those girls.”
