The Carthage Tigers knocked off Republic 63-29 on Friday, Oct. 16, in Republic to improve to 7-0 for the season.
The Tigers galloped to 598 total yards of offense, with 530 of those coming on the ground. Sophomore running back Luke Gall finished with 177 rushing yards on 15 carries, and senior quarterback Patrick Carlton added 18 carries for 224 yards.
The Tigers scored 49 points on seven first-half possessions. Republic did manage three big touchdown plays of 61, 72 and 80 yards, but it was no match for the Carthage running game.
The Carthage win sets up a showdown with 7-1 Nixa at David Haffner Stadium next week in the team’s regular season finale. Republic falls to 2-6 with a game at Branson next week.
