Norma Fern Anderson, 81, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Saturday evening, March 6, 2021 at The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place Skilled Nursing, Columbia, Missouri.
Norma was born on October 17, 1939 in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of Elza Hodge and Nola (Denney) Hodge. She was a 1957 graduate of Carthage High School, and then graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri in 1960. She was employed with Gateway Auto Parts from 1978 to 1990, and then for Leggett and Platt as a file clerk from 1996 until her retirement. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, of Carthage, the Altar Society, and the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley Anderson, Springfield, Missouri, and Richard Anderson (Jennifer), Columbia, Missouri; and six grandchildren, Norma Jo, Jordan, Serena, Kalen, Bryce, and William Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Carol Maxwell.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Joplin. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:00 am at the church, with rosary to follow from 11:00 am until funeral mass. Burial will follow in the Park Cemetery, Carthage. Norma will lie in state from 9 am – 5 pm, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Knell Mortuary for those who wish to sign the register book and pay respects.
