Janet Sue Seitz, age 73, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away at her home July 7, 2020, after a protracted battle with cancer. She was born November 14, 1946, in Webb City, Missouri, but moved with her family to Brookfield, Missouri, where she met her husband-to-be in the first grade; it was the start of their 67-year relationship. Janet graduated from Brookfield High School in 1965 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She wed Jim Seitz on July 5, 1969, in Brookfield; the couple were married 51 years.

Janet taught in Mountain Home, Idaho, and in Brookfield while Jim served in the U.S. Air Force. Mother of two children, she stayed at home with them until returning to teaching in Carthage at Columbian Elementary School for eight years.

Known for her creative flair, Janet enjoyed gardening, decorating, and various craft projects. She was a member of the Mimosa Garden Club and the AP Chapter of the PEO. Janet never knew a stranger, and her loving sense of humor, compassion, and strength will always be remembered and cherished.

Janet is survived by her husband, Jim Seitz; two children, J.T. Seitz and wife, Allison, of Wildwood, Missouri, and Shannon Seitz and husband, Ethan Honnell, of Los Alamos, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Maddie, Ainsley, Azure, and Sanger; and four Sisters: Judy Rich of Havana, Florida; Nancy Tittenhofer and husband, Robert, of Mount Dora, Florida; Paula Loveless and husband, Curtis, of Denton, Texas; and twin Jean Rich of University Place, Washington. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Mae Rich, who raised all five daughters by herself and was counselor, adopted mother, and friend to numerous boys who always seemed to be around.

Services are pending and will be announced by the Knell Mortuary.
