Diane “Chantan” Louise Seay, age 76, of Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

Diane, daughter of the late Louis and Phyllis (Blume) Lombardi, was born on July 19, 1947, in Chicago, IL. Diane was united in marriage with her beloved husband, Ervie “Scooter” Seay, on October 31, 1989, in Chicago. Their bond was truly one of a kind, her adventurous side was expressed through a love of riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles with her husband.

Diane was a fighter. She faced life’s challenges head-on, never backing down. She began her career as a computer programmer and later became a certified Debt Counselor, a role she was passionate about, helping individuals and families navigate their financial challenges. After a successful career, she retired and relocated to Carthage, MO with her husband ten years ago where they made their home. Diane enjoyed writing poetry, cooking “grandma pizza”, listening to music, and caring for others. She was also a lover of numbers, always finding beauty in their precision and order. Her love, kindness, vibrant soul, and lively nature will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband, Ervie “Scooter” Seay, of Carthage, MO; Bonus Son Michael Seay of Eldon, MO, Bonus Daughter Rhonda Murphy of Latham, MO; Grandchildren, Timothy Aschraft, Destiny Bryant, and Malie Bryant, all residing in Chicago, IL; Bonus grandchildren, Shirley Seay-Murphy, of Jefferson City, Christopher Seay-Murphy and wife Kayla of Grain Valley, MO, Rabahka Brown and husband Nate of Blackwater, MO; Siblings, Judith Nowicki of Chicago, IL, Wendy Lombardi of Sun City, AZ,  and Guy Lombardi of Peoria, AZ, and a host of nieces and nephews. Chan was also a loving great-grandmother to 10 bundles of joy.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her daughter, Lillian Uluiva Richard (Schnetzler); siblings, Gary Lombardi, and Nancy Picard; and bonus mother Lupeuluiva Schnetzler.

The family is comforted that Diane “Chantan” is at rest with her daughter, parents, and two siblings.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
