Auditions for Stone’s Throw Dinner Theatre’s upcoming production of Neil Simon’s romantic comedy Barefoot in the Park will be held at the theatre on Sunday, March 17 and Tuesday,  March 19, at 6:30 pm.  The show, produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., will have six performances running May 10 – 12 and May 17 – 19, 2019.

Barefoot in the Park is the story of Paul and Corie Bratter, newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job.  And it’s on the fifth floor! After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too staid, too boring, and she just wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start…

Barefoot in the Park premiered at the Biltmore Theatre in New York City in October of 1963, and ran for over 1,500 performances, making it Neil Simon’s longest-running hit.  In 1967, the play was adapted for the big screen, and has since become an American classic.
