The Carthage Post Office is currently top in the district on sales of the Breast Cancer Research Stamp.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and The Carthage Post office wants to remind customers they still have time to help fund the cause by purchasing the Breast Cancer Research Stamp.
The Carthage Post Office and Carthage postal employee Elizabeth Villa currently hold the first place title in the district with the most Breast Cancer Research Stamps sold.
“We really appreciate the support of the Carthage community as we promote this year’s Breast Cancer Research Stamp,” Villa said.
The United States Postal Service kicked off the annual Breast Cancer Awareness month with “Help Stamp Out Breast Cancer.” Designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, MD, the stamp features the phrases, “Fund the Fight” and “Find a Cure” and an illustration of a mythical “goddess of the hunt” by Whitney Sherman of Baltimore. These 65-cent self-adhesive stamps are available in sheets of 20 for $13.
Every October thousands of post offices and postal workers across the US compete to see which postal employee and post office can sell the most breast cancer awareness stamps, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to Breast Cancer Research. The month is half over and the Carthage Post Office wants to encourage the community to purchase a book of the stamps for a great cause.
