Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Releases Annual Report

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has released their annual report of services and duties in 2020. The report includes a variety of projects including breaking ground on the new detention center in September and training initiatives. The report continues with a multitude of changes implemented due to COVID-19 including visitation procedures at the detention center and community policing activities throughout the county. Overall, the report shows that the Sheriff’s Department is in high demand to the citizens of Jasper County and has abundantly met a multitude of challenges in 2020.

Opening with a letter from Sheriff Kaiser, the Jasper County Sherriff’s annual report acknowledges that 2020 was an unprecedented year throughout the nation and Jasper County seemed to meet most of the challenges head-on. The document is an interesting insight on the community and covers the following topics: Jail Expansion, Jail Operations / Detention Center, Training, Visitation, Conceal Carry Licensing, Civilian Employees, Patrol, SWAT, Work Wellness, Community Oriented Policing, Neighborhood Watch, Crisis Intervention Team, Airport Drive, Investigations, Warrants Department, Booking Department, Sex Offender Registration, K-9, School Resource Officer, Shop with a Deputy, Reserve Deputy Division, Jasper County Transportation Department, Civil Process, Scam Awareness, Explorers, Gun Safety, and Animal Control.

Crime Statistics are available in the Investigations portion. They show the number of investigations open, closed, cleared, and inactive for a variety of felonies. The highlight seems to be a 100% rate of missing child cases that have cleared in 2020. The department reported growth in crime rates in 2020 and urgest the community to fight crime by following basic protocols of locking doors and windows as well as keeping lists of serial numbers for high-priced items in your home.
