CARTHAGE, Mo. — Local business owners and long-time Carthage residents Tom and Cindy Garrison will be breaking ground this Friday October 28th at 4:30 pm to introduce their G3 Family Entertainment Center to the Carthage community. This state-of-the-art building will be housed at Myers Park, formally known as the Myers Park Airport, located behind Lowe’s Home Improvement, Garrison Ave. & Airport Drive.
Since the closure of the Myers Park Airport in 1997, the area was renamed to Myers Park and the City of Carthage sold land to retail businesses. In 2007 Lowe’s purchased land and constructed a new home improvement store. The area has seen many improvements including the Villas at Myers Park and a thoroughfare along Garrison Ave. A cost-sharing project in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Transportation known as the Fairlawn round-a-bout was constructed to direct more traffic through Myers Park. By the rehabilitation of other round-a-bouts in the same area along with the plan of a new round-a-bout from Fairlawn to Fir Roads, all of the land that is owned by the City of Carthage in Myers Park is under contract and this is the first groundbreaking in the Myers Park area.
The 36,000 square ft. building will be the first phase of several phases being planned and will house a 24-lane bowling alley, mini-golf, a ninja tag arena, a large indoor playground, conference room and a restaurant.
Over the years the Garrison’s saw many family venues close in Carthage with nothing opening back up to take it’s place. “When we were raising our three daughters, we found we had to leave town to do something fun with them,” stated Tom Garrison, he added, “we want to change that by adding this to the Carthage community footprint and have a family destination facility that local families will enjoy along with those traveling through the area.”
“This project is the first of many great things to come in this area,” stated Greg Dagnan, Carthage City Administrator, “we are pleased with what is on the horizon at Myers Park and can’t wait to see all of the projected projects built in the area.”
The G3 Family Entertainment will offer a year-round family environment that will bring people to the community to see this one-of-a kind facility. “This will certainly be an attraction to those that visit our community all year around,” said Julie Reams, Carthage Chamber President. “it’s very exciting that construction will start soon and this state-of-the-art facility will be a part of our community with even more great things to come for visitors and our residents here in Carthage.”
The projected opening date for the G3 Family Entertainment will be in the Fall of 2023.
