Academy aims to help young players develop skills for the future
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Nick Harmon, head men’s and women’s soccer coach at Webb City High School and his wife Kelsey Harmon recently launched Webb City Soccer Academy (WCSA).
WSCA is a youth soccer technique-based instructional program available to youth in second grade through seven who live in the four-state area.
“We are excited to open Webb City Soccer Academy,” says Nick Harmon. “We believe that skill development in young players is crucial to the long term success of high school programs and to the development of soccer culture in the community.”
WSCA offers a six week season of training sessions. The WSCA season is intended to provide instruction for players who are serious about soccer and interested in moving up from the recreational level to competitive play. If a player is already on a traveling or competitive team, the WSCA season offers them extra training time to sharpen their skills and improve their game.
Academy sessions focus on core fundamentals of the game: passing, trapping, ball control, dribbling, shooting and crossing, while also aiming to instill an enthusiasm for the game in community youth.
The fall 2019 season will be on Monday nights starting Sept. 9 through Oct.14. Sessions will take place on the Webb City High School soccer practice fields from 6:30-7:45 p.m. The cost for the season is $99.99. In addition, each participant will receive a WSCA jersey and a pair of soccer socks to wear to each session.

Webb City Soccer Academy is a youth soccer technique-based instructional program. The Academy is available to youth grades two through seven who live in the four state area. About the coaches
Nick Harmon is entering his third season as the head men’s and women’s soccer coach at Webb City High School. Prior to coaching at Webb City, Nick also coached at Warrensburg High School. He grew up playing competitive and premier soccer in Kansas City and played four years for Raymore-Peculiar High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army and later earning a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Central Missouri.
Kelsey Harmon, grew up playing competitive and premier soccer in the Kansas City area and played four years at Raymore-Peculiar High School. Following high school, she accepted a scholarship to play at Johnson County Community College In Overland Park, Kansas. Kelsey holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Central Missouri.
