IN 1918, a company of soldiers from Jasper County, Missouri, took part in one of the bloodiest battles of the “Great War.” Jeff Patrick, editor of the book “A Machine-Gunner in France,” will discuss Captain Ward Schrantz and his men, his source material, and how he documented the experiences of one American unit in a forgotten war.
