Robert Lynn Wilcox, 67, Carthage, Mo., passed away early Friday morning, Feb. 14, 2020, at Landmark Hospital, Joplin, Mo., with family by his side.
Robert was born May 2, 1952, in Hiawatha, Kan., to Charles and Kathryne (Roland) Wilcox. He was a 1970 graduate of Augusta High School in Augusta, Kan. Robert married Joelyn Stanton on March 14, 1973, and to this union, two children were born. Robert then married Shelly Baumann on Aug. 4, 2006, in Carthage. Robert worked as a heat treater and hand former for Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kan., where he retired after 35 years. He was a coach for little league soccer in Augusta and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. Robert loved fishing, bird watching, planting flowers and tending to his Iris garden, but most of all loved his family. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Carthage.
He leaves behind his wife, Shelly Wilcox, Carthage; children, Rebecca Osburn (husband Charles), Wichita, Kan., and Charles Wilcox, Marquette, Mich.; step-children, Tim Payne (wife Daphne), Joplin, Mo., Keri Dougless (husband Cody), Carthage, and Tyler Payne, Xiamen, China; his father, Charles Wilcox; grandchildren, Scarlett and Xander; step-grandchildren, Jadon, Malachi, Gracelynn, Karis, Brynlee, Joshua, and Kya; brothers, Paul Wilcox (wife Jacqueline), Augusta, Kan., and Kim Wilcox (wife Shelley), Ottawa, Kan.; and sister, Shirley Cummins (husband Dan), Cummings, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryne Wilcox; his first wife, Joelyn (Stanton) Wilcox; and a brother, Charles Kenneth Wilcox.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at First Christian Church, Carthage. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial gifts are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Knell Mortuary.
