Born to Rose and Donald Hagan in Hannibal, Mo., Louise grew up there until she began her nurses’ training at St. Luke’s Nursing School in St. Louis, Mo. It was there that she met and married Dr. Richard Cohle in July of 1945. The couple moved from St. Louis to Carthage, Mo., in 1954 where he began his medical practice and they reared their five children. The family was active members of First Baptist Church for many years. Louise’s Christian faith was central to her life and character as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Louise was married to Richard for forty-seven years before he passed away in 1992. While bringing up their large family, Louise also volunteered for the Red Cross, served on the board of St. Luke’s Nursing Home, and volunteered at the McCune-Brooks Hospital gift shop. Louise fully enjoyed all her family and friends and was gifted in exercising hospitality. She loved to cook for everyone who came through her door. Her family will remember her when using her special recipes for chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, and caramel fudge brownies. Louise was always active and never met a game she didn’t like, particularly Scrabble, and she strongly encouraged everyone to participate, according to HER rules, of course. She also enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and bridge.
After 12 years as a widow, she married a long-time friend Bill Reinhardt in 2004 and moved to St. Louis where he had family. They were married for 14 years before he passed away. Then, after serious health issues, Louise moved to New Braunfels, Texas, in 2018 to be near her oldest son, Ron, and his family.
Louise is survived by her five children: Ron (Beverly); Steve (Mary); Tim; Paul (Robyn Lock); Ellen (Amir Moezpoor); and their families: Amy (Jamie Henderson), Laura (Brad Bredesen), Emily (Chip Bryant), and Hagan Cohle (Kristal); Andy, Corey (Elisa), Dustin (Jodie), and David Cohle; Michelle and Michael Moezpoor. There are also seventeen great-grandchildren.
From her marriage to Bill, Louise is survived by one step-daughter, Cynthia Alexander and two step-grandchildren, Celeste (Jason Coldwater) and Stasy (Terry Zahn) and two step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Knell Mortuary in Carthage, Mo., on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10:30 until noon with a graveside service to follow at Park Cemetery.
