Ten individuals were newly-elected in the balloting that ended January 29, 2019, according to Peter Carter, council chair.
Newly elected members to serve two-year terms are: Dale Campbell, Mary Ann Campbell, Oronogo; Rosann Chapman, Bill Chapman, Gail Lawrence, and Dorothy Shull, Carthage; Barbara Hunter and Steve Wardlow, Jasper; Kim Lambeth, Webb City; and Jim Graham, Joplin.
These members will join the following hold-over members: Debbie Carter, Peter Carter, Patricia Gordon, Teresa Ingle, Gail Kreutzer, Karen Latimer, Mary Jo Little, Kyle Wilson, and Rachel Wilson.
Currently, the appointed members to the council are: Tom Flanigan (County Commission), Carl Burton (Farm Bureau), Anthony Monteleone (City of Joplin) and Andy Cloud (City of Carthage).
The council has four major responsibilities. They are: (1) to advise the University of Missouri on needed extension educational programs, (2) approve the extension staff housed in Jasper County, (3) arrange for financing the Jasper County Extension Center and, (4) hold elections to perpetuate the Council.
Officers for the 2019 council were elected at the annual meeting held at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage, Tuesday evening, February 5, 2019. They are: Peter Carter, chairman; Karen Latimer, vice-chair; Gail Kreutzer, secretary; and Tom Flanigan, treasurer.
