John William Huntley, 62, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 5, 2023, at his home. John was born April 8, 1961, in Carthage, Missouri, the son of the late George C. Huntley and Helen Joann (Steward) Huntley. He was a 1979 graduate of Carthage High School. John was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army, until his retirement. He then worked for Atlas in Carthage for a short period of time, and then Schrieber Foods in Carthage for 20 years. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage. John was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a civil war buff, and loved traveling, but most of all, loved his family.
Survivors include three brothers, Pat Huntley (Patty), Michael Huntley, and Tom Huntley; six sisters, Anne Warden, Kathy Parker, Janice Huntley, Nancy Dotson, Mary Berger, and Jeanie Slates (Jack); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his long-time friend, Darryl Moore.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Matt Huntley.
Memorial services will be held 11 am, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Inurnment will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Carthage Bright Futures in care of Knell Mortuary.
