MSSU Track and Field teams compete at Central Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Missouri Southern men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at Central Missouri in the UCM Invite today inside the multipurpose building in Warrensburg. 
  
In the 14 events the Lions took part in, they posted three NCAA provisional qualifying marks on the men’s side and picked up five individual event wins overall.  
  
Claire Luallen won the women’s long jump leaping 5.49 meters (18-0.25) to kick start the meet for the Lions. Peyton Barton won the men’s weight throw for the second week in a row and recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 18.44m (60-6.0). Jennifer Okeke finished second in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 11.40 meters (37-5.0)  
 
Mason York finished fifth in the men’s pole vault and recorded a NCAA provisional qualifying mark clearing 4.83 meters (15-10.0). Adrain Broadus picked up an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 14.59 meters (47-10.50) in the men’s triple jump finishing third in the event.  
  
Lullaen and Precious Olatunji finished second and third in the women’s 60-meter hurdles with times of 8.95.  Chardae Overstreet and LaNea Wallace finished first and second in the women’s 400-meter dash with times of 57.84 and 58.24.  
  
Brieon Randle won the men’s 400-meter dash with a time of 50.29, and Cameron Linville won the the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.94. 
 
Southern will be back in action next weekend as the Lions will travel to Pittsburg State on Friday and Saturday.
