Warrensburg, Mo. – The Missouri Southern men’s and women’s track and field teams picked up an event win and seven NCAA Qualifying Marks as the Lions competed in the UCM Classic hosted by Central Missouri.
Josh Fulmer picked up the win in the men’s weight throw with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 19.38m (63’7″) while Peyton Barton finished second at 18.79m (61′ 7.75″). Dean Howard picked up a NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark finishing second in the men’s pole vault with a jump of 4.96m (16′ 3.25″).
Elena Bissoto finished second in the women’s pole vault with a jump of 3.92m (12′ 10.25″), as Jordan Banker came in fourth at 3.77m (12′ 4.5″). Both jumps are NCAA Provisional Qualifying Marks. In the men’s shot put, Josh Fulmer finished second with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 16.78m (55′ 0.75″) and Elijah Smith was third at 15m (49′ 2.5″).
Haley Clifton finished third in the women’s weight throw with a toss of 16.20m (53′ 1.75″), while LaShunda Tapp finished third in the women’s shot put with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 14.15m (46′ 5.25″).
The Lions will be back in action next week competing at the 2021 MIAA Indoor Championships hosted by Washburn.
