William Joe Rogers, 78, Carthage, Missouri, affectionately known as Bill to his friends and family, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025. He was born on February 26, 1947, in Carthage, Missouri, the son of the late Howard Bensing Rogers and Dortha Rose (Frerer) Rogers. Bill’s life was a testament to his friendly nature, his handy skills, and his adventurous spirit.

Bill was a proud graduate of Carthage High School, class of 1964, and his thirst for knowledge led him to further his education at Pittsburg State University, where he studied electronics. Bill married the love of his life, Marilyn “Mona” Lawson, on June 27, 1970 in Carthage; she preceded him in death on October 19, 2021. Bill began his professional journey at Orbit Products in Carthage, where he honed his skills as a fabricator. His entrepreneurial spirit later drove him to establish Rogers Auto Repair, a business he owned and operated with dedication and pride, serving the Carthage community he loved so much.

Beyond his professional life, Bill was a man of many interests. He was a British car enthusiast, with a particular fondness for the classic designs and the intricate mechanics of these vehicles. His passion for cars was only matched by his love for travel and the great outdoors. Bill cherished the times he spent with his wife Mona, traveling to their favorite spots at Table Rock Lake and the serene landscapes of Maine. Whether it was boating, fishing, or simply enjoying the tranquility of nature, Bill embraced every moment with joy and contentment. He was a man who built lasting relationships and made a positive impact on everyone he met. As a lifelong resident of Carthage, he embodied the spirit of the community—friendly, resourceful, and ever ready for a new journey.

Survivors include his brothers-in-law, Melvin Morgan (Lois), Ronald Lawson (Linda), and Preston Lawson (Marie); his nieces and nephews, Heather Ali (Mohammad), Aaron Morgan (Da Ping Luo), Mendy Lasley (Pete), Stephanie Morgan, Melissa Horton (Rhett), and Wyatt Lawson; and many extended family members and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri. Memorial gifts are suggested to Carthage Humane Society in care of Knell Mortuary.
