Pauline Benefiel, 74, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Pauline was born March 11, 1946, in Pepsin, Missouri to Bill and Laura (Carol) Housh. She was a longtime resident of Carthage.
Pauline was united in marriage to Donald Dean Benefiel on January 1, 1965; he survives.
Don and Pauline opened and ran Sunny Hills Residential Care Facility west of Carthage for many years. It was Pauline’s passion to take care of people and ensure everyone’s needs were met even before her own. After retirement, they went on many trips, saw many amazing places and made numerous friends along the way.
Pauline was a huge lover of sports. She never missed a game or event of her boys or grandkids. She would even stay and watch games played by kids she didn’t even know.
Pauline loved Jesus with all of her heart and raised her sons according to the word of God. We are all blessed to have known this beautiful loving soul!
Pauline is survived by her loving husband; two sons, Doug Benefiel and wife Kristi and Dustin Benefiel and wife Tennille; five grandchildren, Brett, Tyler, Kyler, Brayden and Blayne Benefiel; one sister Jo Long; three brothers, Carroll “Pete” Housh and wife Louise, Paul Housh and wife Nina and Billy Housh; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Floyd Long and sister-in-law Ellen Housh.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday,
December 16, 2020, at Powers Cemetery (five miles east of Diamond).
