Larry David Edwards, 80, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Larry was born on July 1, 1943, in Joplin to Donald and Florene (Pauley) Edwards. He’s been a lifetime resident of the area. He was a postmaster for the Carthage postal service from 1978 to 1991 and he also owned and operated Larry’s Income Tax Service for 40 years. He liked to play golf and he really enjoyed watching Mizzou Tiger Basketball.
Larry was united in marriage to Bettina Bigbee on June 12, 1999, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Together they shared and celebrated 28 loving years of marriage; she survives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bettina Edwards; three sons, Ken Edwards (Jackie) of McKinney, Texas, Shaune Snead (Michelle) of Friesttat, Missouri, and Drew Snead (Teresa) of Monette, Missouri; one daughter, Lori Bradley (Walter) of Carthage, Missouri; one brother Danny Edwards of Springfield, Missouri; and grandchildren, Dennis, Dalton, Maegan (K.D.), Zane (Kaelyn), Alyssa, Ashton, Avery; and great-grandson Milo.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Florene Edwards, one brother Gary Edwards, and his father and mother-in-law, Billy and Arlette Bigbee.
There will be a service held for Larry at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Fairview Christian Church in Carthage. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Fairview Christian Church. The burial will be at Ozark Memorial Park in Joplin, Missouri, following the service.
