Kevin Lee Hensley, 54, was born June 28, 1966, in Carthage, Missouri to Earl Jr. and Evelyn (Holmes) Hensley, the youngest of five children. He passed away November 16, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer. He graduated with the class of 1984 from Carthage High School, where he was active in FFA, obtaining his state degree. After high school, he worked at Race Brothers working on small engines. In 1988 while working at Leggett & Platt Wire Mill, Kevin was in a hunting accident that left him partially paralyzed. He then attended MSSU, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1995. After graduation, he was employed at Leggett & Platt corporate office in the credit department. He was employed there until his retirement in 2017 due to health reasons. Kevin was a member of the Masonic Lodge 197.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Hensley, Carthage; his sisters and brother, Terri (Carol Glenn) Johnson, Industry, Texas, Steve (Debbie) Hensley, Carthage, Julie (Steve) Theil, Jasper, Missouri, and Kelly Hensley. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Carrie (Blake) Galle, Jeff (Cassidy) Johnson, Dustin Hensley, Amanda (Brad) Fosdick, Matt Theil, and Allison (Wes) Thomas; ten great-nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Hensley, Jr.; his favorite uncle, Bob Fairchild; and his grandparents.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2020, at Dudman Cemetery, Carthage. Kevin will lie in state from 8 am – 6 pm, Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Knell Mortuary for those who wish to sign the register book and pay respects.
