Helen Joann Huntley, 92, Carthage, Mo., passed away Wednesday evening, April 22, 2020, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, with family by her side.
Helen was born May 19, 1927, in Carthage to Earl Alvis Steward and Georgia Gertrude (Stuckey) Steward. She was a 1945 graduate of Carthage High School. She married the love of her life George C. Huntley on May 14, 1948; he preceded her in death on June 12, 2004. Helen was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage.
Survivors include six daughters, Anne Warden, Kathy Parker, Janice Huntley, Nancy Dotson, Mary Berger, and Jeanie Slates (Jack); four sons, Pat Huntley (Patty), Michael Huntley, John Huntley, and Tom Huntley; fifteen grandchildren, Brian Huntley (Kendra), Amy Thrasher, Alison Barton (Rafe), Becky Huntley, Curtis Huntley, Stephen Parker, Jr., Angela Walter (Russ), Chris Parker, Adam Parker (Gail), David Dotson (Amber), Sarah Eitemiller (Ben), Jake Berger, Josh Slates (Melissa), Justin Slates (Lexi), James Slates (Samantha); and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Matt Huntley.
Private family services will be held, and burial will take place at Park Cemetery. The register book will be available to sign at Knell Mortuary from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2020. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage in care of Knell Mortuary.
