Attempted home invasion leads to manhunt, arrest in Carthage field

CARTHAGE, Mo. — On July 20th, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM, Jasper County Deputies were notified that Joplin Police Department had been in a pursuit with a White Chevy pickup truck with temp tags and the truck was last seen East bound on I-44.

At approximately 6:00 PM, Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in progress at a residence on Cimarron Road near Carthage involving a male in a White Chevy truck that had tried to enter their residence by kicking in the front door. Deputies searched the area and located the truck and a pursuit was initiated. The truck began driving erratically and went off the roadway several times. Deputies lost sight of the truck and a property owner near Fir Road and South Grand Avenue in Carthage notified Deputies that he saw the truck drive behind the Church of Christ into a field. The truck was located abandoned in the tree line and a perimeter was set up by several assisting agencies.
