A proud 1967 graduate of Carthage High School, Gary went on to further his education at Missouri Southern State University. He graduated magna cum laude, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career as an accountant at Leggett & Platt, where he was a respected employee for over two decades. Gary married the love of his life, Judy Gaydou, on June 11, 1972, in Wentworth, Missouri.
Despite his professional accomplishments, Gary’s heart truly belonged to the countryside. His time spent chasing cows was filled with joy and satisfaction. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through in his love for wheelin’ and dealin’, as he was always on the hunt for the best deals on farm equipment, a pursuit that often brought him great excitement and fulfillment.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Judy Wampler; his daughters, Amy Campbell (Chad) and Erin Wampler; his grandchildren, Sydney Campbell and Drew Campbell; and many extended family and friends, who will carry on his values and spirit. Gary’s role as Grandad was filled with pride and joy; they were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Keith Wampler; his sister, Janice Wampler; a niece, Tracy Welch; and a nephew, Chad Wampler.
