Bob Russell Barlow, 82, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on March 8, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, to Willis Barlow and Marie (Halerman) Barlow. He’s been a Carthage resident since 1996. In his younger years, he was a journeyman mailer for several larger city newspapers. Later, he drove a truck for JB Hunt and was a recipient of the 1 Million Mile Accident Free Driver award. He worked there for 13 years. In his free time, he liked to stop at yard sales with his wife, Carolyn, go fishing, and woodworking crafts. Bob was a huge Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan and loved watching the games.
Bob was united in marriage to Carolyn Mitchell on June 3, 1964; she survives.
Along with his wife Carolyn, Bob, is survived by two sons, Dennis Barlow (Beverly) of Joplin and Steve Barlow (Marcella) of Carthage; two daughters, Pam Barlow of Miami, Oklahoma, and Donna Swagerty (Kenny) of Sherman, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Clark of McHenry, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Marie Barlow, and his brother Eddie Barlow.
A funeral service will be held for Bob at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. Visitation will be held the previous evening from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The burial will take place at Park Cemetery directly after the service.
