“Strong sale with record prices were seen at the SW MO Show-Me-Select™ (SMS) Replacement Heifer Program sale at Joplin Regional Stockyards on November 15th, says Patrick Davis, MU Extension Livestock Field Specialist. This sale had 8 consigners sell 112 heifers for an average price of $3,205 per heifer. This sale average was $299 higher per heifer and 27 more heifers were sold than the Fall 2023 sale.
“In their second sale Storie Farms of Conway, MO had the highest selling lot of 4 heifers that brought $4,500 per heifer,” says Davis. These heifers of the record selling lot were black/white face heifers. Storie Farms also was the largest consigners with 42 head of heifers selling for the second highest average of $3,428 per heifer. Longtime consigner Mast Farms, of Lamar, MO had the highest sale average where they sold 12 heifers for an average price of $3,450 per heifer. Furthermore, Mast Farms had the second highest selling lot which was 3 red heifers selling for an average price of $4,000 per heifer.
“A new buyer bought the most heifers during the sale,” says Davis. Silverline Ranch of El Dorado Springs, MO bought the most heifers during the sale by purchasing 22 head of heifers for an average price of $3,395 per heifer. Richard Neal of Nixa, MO who last purchased heifers in the fall of 2018 was the next highest volume buyer by purchasing 16 heifers for an average price of $3,362 per heifer.
