Carthage man charged after allegedly assaulting woman, threatening to have her son killed

A Carthage man was charged with felony and misdemeanor assault charges after allegedly hitting and choking a woman and threatening to steal her money and have her son killed.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Elisier Estrada Ramirez (DOB 1997) with bond set at $10,000 cash or surety with the condition that he have no contact with the alleged victim.

According to the probable cause statement, Ramirez and the woman were lying in bed and began arguing about Ramirez’ jealous, followed by Ramirez hitting her in the face and choking her.

After the alleged assault, Ramirez sent a voice message to the woman “where he threatened to steal her money and to have her son (still in Guatemala) killed if she told anyone.”

The voice recording was located on Ramirez’ phone, the probable cause statement said.

Ramirez had a different version of events.

He advised that they were just play fighting and that she suffered the black eye at work. He also advised he did not remember threatening her and that he must have been drunk.

The case was investigated by the Carthage Police Department.
